Child Support

Child support can be a stressful and contentious topic for parents who are divorcing or have already divorced.  It is the payment that a noncustodial parent makes to contribute to the cost of raising his or her child.

The need for child support payments typically arises when one parent does not have physical custody of his or her child, so that parent's income does not benefit the child on a daily basis.  The legal duty to support a minor child belongs to both parents, even if the custodial parent is capable of caring for the child single-handedly. Support is awarded to provide for the child's basic needs and to allow the child to share in the standard of living of both parents.

"Thank you for going into court and helping me to finally get the support that I knew I was owed...Every time I had gone into court before, the Court always bought my ex's lame excuses for not being able to pay the right amount of Child Support that he should have been paying for his son.  Like I told you, the Judge or Magistrate always seemed to believe my ex and he always came out having to pay much less than I knew he should.  Thank you, thank you, thank you for finally helping to right this wrong and get the Judge to listen to me and to the facts.  (Minor son) thanks you too!"
